Invictus

Just 18 months ago I started my artistic pursuits....I believe that art emerges from the soul/subconscious. It possesses the ability to reconcile the “irreconcilable” experiences of life. Art accepts, forgives and encourages you to get back on the proverbial horse (of life) even when it kicks you off. It is a nexus of the mind; a place where the subconscious and conscious mind meet and work together to manifest creativity.

Due to its balanced mind creation, art tends to embody life’s extreme polarities; courage amid adversity, strength from vulnerability, and unconditional love as a result of betrayal.

I am very grateful for both my life challenges and for the art that emerges from them. It is a direct channel to the authentic self.

INVICTUS

Out of the night that covers me,

Black as the pit from pole to pole,

I thank whatever gods may be

      For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance

I have not winced nor cried aloud.

Under the bludgeonings of chance

My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears

Looms but the Horror of the shade,

And yet the menace of the years

Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,

How charged with punishments the scroll,

I am the master of my fate,

I am the captain of my soul.
